The FORMULA MIPS bike helmet by BELL comes with the clever MIPS system to minimize the rotational forces acting on the brain in case of an impact. Straps and helmet can be precisely and individually adjusted to your head measurements for a better fit.

Details:
• Robust FUSION IN-MOLD POLYCARBONATE SHELL
• Moisture-wicking SWEAT GUIDE padding
• Adjustable NO-TWIST TRI-GLIDES straps
• INTEGRATED MIPS FLOAT FIT system
• MIPS system reduces rotational forces
• EN1078

Weight: approx. 265 g (size M)

FUSION IN-MOLD POLYCARBONATE SHELL:
The EPS foam is injected into the thin micro shell while it is still in the mould, instead of moulding it separately and sticking it on afterwards.

SWEAT GUIDE:
The SWEAT GUIDE pad wicks sweat away from eyebrows and sunglasses.

NO-TWIST TRI-GLIDES:
The strap system is easy to adjust, keeps the straps flat and thus prevents twisting – which helps to save energy in the wind.

INTEGRATED MIPS:
By integrating the MIPS foil into the helmet fitting system, the weight could be further reduced. This allows for the development of more compact helmets that fit closer to the head and offer improved ventilation.

FLOAT FIT:
The helmet adjustment system combines comfort and safety with an especially light design. FLOAT FIT optimizes the fit of the helmet – with regards to head measurements and vertical adjustment options. In order to reduce the weight and to ensure ease of use, the arms enclose the back of the head. This brings the helmet into the perfect position on your head. Simple, lightweight and comfortable.

WHAT IS MIPS?
MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) is a slip-plane system within the helmet designed to rotate inside the helmet with the intent to potentially slow or reduce the amount of energy transferred to or from the head possibly reducing head injury from rotational impacts.
WHY IS MIPS IMPORTANT?
When a head rotates quickly and comes to a sudden stop, the rotational acceleration can cause the brain tissue to experience high levels of strain. This stretching of the tissue that can be caused by these motions can result in various types of brain injury. MIPS is designed with the intent to address rotational acceleration from impact.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
MIPS uses a slip-plane system that moves inside the helmet, mimicking the brain’s own protection system. This layer is designed to rotate inside the helmet with the intent to potentially slow or reduce the amount of energy transferred to or from the head. Science tells us that if we can reduce the strains associated with rotational acceleration, we might reduce the risk and severity of brain injury.
