Bar Ends

Bar ends are typically horn-like extensions or accessories placed on both ends of a bicycle's handlebar. They look like antlers or the horns of a bull and come either permanently fixed on the handlebar or as bolt-on extensions, curving in any direction as per the rider's preference.

Velomio has all the latest bar ends to help you find the perfect one for your bike.

Why Do You Need Bar Ends?

Bar ends provide you with more power and leverage, making the task of cycling uphill easier. Placing your hands on the bar ends while cycling uphill engages more body muscles in the exercise, thus producing all the energy required to push forward easily.

Bar ends from Velomio improve a rider's aerodynamics by lifting their weight off the saddle, therefore, making the bike move faster and more efficiently on flat ground. They also give you more control over your movements while riding at high speeds which improves your safety when riding on narrow winding paths or riding along sharp turns.

Holding onto the bar ends while riding uphill also shifts your body weight and center of gravity forward, therefore, adding more weight to the front wheel.

How to install Bar Ends

Installing bar ends is rather easy, and if you follow this straightforward guide from Velomio you will have no issues:

  • Step 1: Position your bike correctly in a manner that will make installation fast and easy.
  • Step 2: Measure the width of the bar end on the clamping point.
  • Step 3: Expose the handlebars by removing the handle grip.
  • Step 4: Loosen the brake and shift levers, then slide them inwards.
  • Step 5: Clean the handlebar using a spray and wipe it dry before putting back the handle grip. Slide the handle grip back in until it is in contact with the brake lever, leaving enough space for the bar end.
  • Step 6: Slip in the bar end and tighten it on the handlebar using a screw wrench.
  • Step 7: Adjust the positioning of the bar end while sitting on your bike until your hand assumes a natural position.
  • Step 8: Slide the bar ends to their preferred positions and tighten them.
  • Step 9: Adjust the brake and shift levers until they are both in a comfortable position.

You need to study your bike first before adjusting know the appropriate tools to use and how to go about the process.
