Boardman - Air 9.0
Product DescriptionDelivering cutting-edge aerodynamic performance, the AIR 9.0 uses the same high modulus C10 Carbon AIR frame and fork as the top level AIR 9.8. With Olympic gold medal-winning DNA, refined through extensive aerodynamic R&D, and Vision’s Team Comp 35 clincher wheelset, high-speed riding is definitely the Air 9.0’s forte.
Shimano’s precise and efficient 105 groupset takes care of shifting and braking so going up and downhill will be just as much fun as powering along the flat roads. The Air Elite Carbon seat post has 4 different mounting positions, allowing the effective seat tube angle to be adjusted between 73 and 75°, making the bike suitable for mixed Road, Time Trial and Triathlon duties.

The Boardman AIR series has a pretty impressive palmares with multiple Olympic medals under its belt. That made it an exciting challenge to develop – how do you improve one of the world’s best? We’ve stuck to the same formula which has proved so successful, but have refined the AIR frameset to make it faster and more real-world rider friendly.
With a brand new truncated aerofoil down tube and seat tube, developed as part of an extensive Aero R&D process, the 2019 AIR offers an even faster ride in any wind direction. The 2019 AIR frame, combined with our new T10 aero fork which takes a standard external brake, delivers gold medal-winning performance with everyday usability.
Aerodynamic performance isn’t much use if the frame doesn’t transfer power to the road efficiently too, but with an oversized PF30 bottom bracket shell and new, tapered box-section chainstays, the AIR frameset makes sure every possible watt makes it to the rear wheel.
C10 Carbon Frame
Boardman's C10 Carbon uses a mixture of Toray T1000 and T800 or equivalent fibres. These high modulus fibres have outstanding stiffness to weight ratios, meaning that we can use less material to produce the same level of stiffness compared to lower grade fibres. This, in turn, means we can shape tubes more dramatically to tune the performance of the frame to suit the type of riding it is designed for. In the AIR range, the use of C10 Carbon facilitates a highly aerodynamic down tube and seat tube, comfort-enhancing seat stays, and incredibly stiff chain stays for outstanding power transfer.Hidden Rear Brake
We've placed the rear brake underneath the bottom bracket to keep it out of the airflow and improve aerodynamic performance. Don't worry about brake rub or lack of power though, the direct mount TRP brake used on the AIR has a longer travel than a standard calliper, giving better clearance for wide rims.
PF30 Bottom Bracket
The PF30 bottom bracket comprises of bearings in a plastic housing pressed directly into the frame. This means that the bottom bracket shell can be wider compared to a threaded bottom bracket as the bearings sit inside the frame, not outside. We've taken full advantage of this additional width to provide a solid and stiff junction between the BB and the chain stays to ensure your power is going into the road as efficiently as possible.
4 Position Seatpost
Bike fitting is a complicated science, trying to find the best balance between comfort, power output and aerodynamics. With the 4 position seat post on the AIR platform, you have a huge range of adjustment to get the perfect fit. Being able to adjust from a 73°-75° seat tube angle also means the bikes can be used for multiple disciplines, ride on the road at the weekend, then slide your saddle forwards and fit some aero-bars for a mid-week time trial.
