Since more than 20 years the Cosmic Pro is the first choice for roadbike riders. Facing the growing popularity of disc brakes for roadbikes Mavic has developed a disc brake version of this wheel.
Featuring 45 mm NACA rim profile, 19 mm inner width and a weight of just 935 grams the Mavic Cosmic Pro Carbon Disc aims for the right balance of lightweight, strength and aerodynamic. It is based on the same qualities that made the Cosmic Pro Carbon so popular. The 12K carbon / aluminium (Maxtal) hybrid rim combines the best of both materials: stiffness, low weight and the possibility of an aerodynamic forming process of carbon - adding the simplicity and durability of an aluminium core.
The rim profile has been attuned for the use with disc brakes, without brake tracks and featuring all carbon qualities.
This version is purpose-built for disc brakes, with 24 spokes for optimized brake torque distribution. The hub is equipped with a fast engaging Instant Drive 360 freehub. The used hubs are compatible with the most common axle standards:
- rear works with 12x142mm thru axle frames (can be converted to quick release - adapters not included)
- Centerlock brake disc mounts
This high-end wheel tire system would not be perfect without the right set of tires. The 25 mm wide Yksion Pro GripLink front tire conveys safeness because of Kevlar puncture protection breaker and a elaborate tire tread, that features a nice water displacement. The rear Yksion Pro PowerLink instead is focused on rolling efficiency thanks to a supple 127 tpi casing and also good water displacement.
Tire dimension: 25-622 (700x25c) | Max. Pressure: 25mm 7.7 bars - 110 psi
Technologies of Mavic Cosmic Pro Carbon Disc
Inside the Cosmic Pro Carbon Disc the new freewheel-generation namedInstant Drive 360
will be used - it makes a perfect hub: low weight, minimized friction, quick force-closure, high axle-stiffness and enormously long lifetime. And if maintenance should be necessary, or altering the axle-standard, it is tool-free and easier than ever before. Isopulse
- The spokes are laced radially on the drive side and crossed 2 on the non drive side to maximize drive side dish, thus providing a better spoke tension balance between left and right flanges. Further advantages: higher stiffness under heavy loads for crystal clear energy transmission and better wheel stability for fewer maintenance. QRM Auto
(Qualité de Roulements Mavic Auto) - Mavic's latest innovation. Those cartridge bearings are of course double sealed with C3 internal clearance. Their preload is automatically adjusted to guarantee a perfect spin with no play on the long run Mavic Yksion Pro Tire technology PowerLINK
Low rolling resistance. A rear tyre, whether a clincher or a tubular, must fully liberate the wheel's ability to transfer power and generate speed. Therefore, PowerLink tyres are optimized for rear wheel use, by minimizing the rolling resistance. Superior energy transfer, reduced rolling resistance and safe grip thanks to optimized tread pattern. Improved drive: light and supple high density casing. Higher durability and reduced risk of flats: nylon anti-puncture breaker.
